ABOUT ME
As a fully qualified and experienced PYP coordinator I have over 19 years of experience in Finnish, American and International schools and has taught to the Canadian, US, and Finnish National Curriculum and IB PYP. In addition to teaching and educational management roles, I am also an IB Workshop Leader and School Visiting Team Member. In my roles, I have successfully lead and participated in PYP, MYP and DP authorization and PYP evaluation visits. During my years of teaching, I have been in international schools in Thailand, China, Canada, Finland and the USA.

  1. 2014 - 2018
    PYP Coordinator at KIS International School, Bangkok Thailand
    The PYP Coordinator helps teachers strengthen their knowledge base and repertoire of teaching skills including inquiry, in order to implement the International Baccalaureate Organization’s (IBO’s) PYP with fidelity. PYP coordinator will promote the fundamental concepts of the International Baccalaureate Programme and help to ensure that such practices support improved student performance. The coordinator is usually a member of the school leadership team and collaborates with other members of the team to develop a school culture that reflects the qualities of the IB Learner Profile.
  2. 2011- 2014
    Vice-Principal at Hua Mao Multicultural Education Academy Ningbo, China
    As a vice principal I serve as the principal's primary assistant in ensuring that MEA operates efficiently. I help to maintain and oversee the day-to-day functions of MEA, I am in charge of scheduling classes and I help to oversee school staff members and teachers, and I ensure the institution and staff are in compliance with safety regulations. Vice principal at MEA also leads education-related initiatives, such as curriculum development, teacher evaluation and student-information system development.

    PYP Coordinator at Ressu Comprehensive School Helsinki, Finland

    Grade 1 and 2 classroom teacher. To create a flexible Primary Years Programme with the guidance of the PYP coordinator and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation life long learning; to establish good relationships with parents.

    Designing a new school building in the new housing area Kalasatama. The school's modus operandi is based on Inquiry Based learning
  6. 2002 - 2005
    Homeroom Teacher at Sunny Bay School Helsinki, Finland
    Sunny Bay School's emphasis is on Technology and Cognitive education. State-of-the-art information and communications technologies are used in all subjects and classrooms. I was in charge of implementing LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) into grade 1 - 3 students technology needs. I was also in charge of creating best practices for implementing Bright Start Cognitive Curriculum in collaboration with Early Childhood Education team.
  7. 2001 - 2002
    Homeroom Teacher at Herttoniemenranta Primary School Helsinki, Finland
    In addition to teaching grades 1-2 I was coordinating Early Childhood Education collaboration with the local preschool. Our key concepts were learning by doing, authentic learning experiences, and age appropriate stimulus.
  8. 1999 - 2001
    Homeroom Teacher, Dual Language Immersion: CLIL at Ilpoinen School Turku, Finland
    CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It refers to teaching subjects such as science, history and geography to students through a foreign language. This can be by the English teacher using cross-curricular content or the subject teacher using English as the language of instruction. Both methods result in the simultaneous learning of content and English. My role at Ilpoinen School was to teach English as an immersion language and then keep other content subjects at 50/50.
